Emma(’nuel) Ọlámíjùwọ́n, PhD

I am a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in the School of Geography and Sustainable Development at the University of St Andrews.

I am passionate about digital demography, quantitative methods, population health, and addressing issues of bias and representation.

My current interdisciplinary research focuses on social inequalities and how they shape population health, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa.

In my several projects, I have used data from various sources, including survey data, digital traces (such as social media data), medical records, and spatial data.

I am driven to find more accessible ways to communicate with data and share data science skills to break down global inequalities. I have led three+ successful data-focused summer programmes targeting early careers in sub-Saharan Africa.
